FAQ

What is the lifting capacity of a standard rotator?

The static capacity is considerably higher than the dynamic capacity. It is often the torque and the radial load that limit the rotator’s capacity, rather than just the pure lifting force. Our technical specifications provide information on lifting capacity and other key parameters.

What is the difference between a cardanic- and a rigid-mount rotator?

A cardanic rotator is suspended by a link beneath the jib nose and can swing freely in all directions. It follows the load’s movements more effectively and is ideal for timber cranes where the grapple needs to ‘float’ and centre itself over logs. A rigid-mount rotator is fixed in place and does not swing. It is primarily used on excavators.

Which rotator is suitable for my grapple?
To determine which rotator is suitable for your grapple, you need to match several technical parameters, primarily the mounting, lifting capacity and hydraulic flow. We provide tables under our grapple models where we specify the recommended rotator.
Which rotator is suitable for construction and material handling?

Our wide range of rotators includes several different models for excavators and material handlers. Our RMR rotators are ideal for mini and midi machines, whilst the XR range from Indexator is perfectly suited to material handlers. We also offer worm gear rotators with very high torque relative to their size.
